Provence landscape’s intense colours enchanted the ancient Romans, Van Gogh, Picasso, Matisse and many others. It is a sensual, lavender-scented land, warmed by the sun and textured by Gallo-Roman ruins and medieval villages dotting rugged mountains in the north and undulating vines and sunflower fields in the south. Provence is simply an idyllic corner of southeast France for everybody dreaming about life in the sun.
There's plenty to see: from the Papal city of Avignon and the shady boulevards of Aix-en-Provence, the picturesque Lubéron hills to the west or the southern Alps in the northeast.
Here is our suggestions:
The Wine Route Take one of the well-indicated wine routes of the region. Stop by at one of the "Les Plus Belle Villes de France " - Séguret, Sablet, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise. Not only charmed by these picturesque villages but also taste the best wines of the world
The Olive Route In addition to the great Rhone wines rolling seas of lavender, this is a land of grey-green groves of olives. In Provence, they grade olive oils like wines. Charming Nyons, with its wonderful markets sprawling down to the river, has ancient olive mills. Here you may savour and buy a dozen different oils.
The Lavender Route The lavender fills the sky and the earth. It determines the pace of the seasons and the life of the people from the "Pays Bleu».
